We always look forward to hosting summer camps, and the Charlton Park residential camp in June 2011 was especially exciting as it would be the first one to use our new clubhouse.

But with less than a couple of weeks between the completion of the building and the arrival of our visitors there was a mountain of preparation to be done and we were desperately wondering how we were going to get everything done in time.

Then along came an offer of help from a group of volunteers from Lloyds Banking Group in nearby Tonbridge hoping to spend a day working with a local charity.

The timing was perfect and we couldn’t have wished for a nicer, more willing and capable group of people.

They set to work spring cleaning our caravans, showers and loos and clearing our rather overgrown garden. Two of the volunteers even found time to help with some of our rides.

We are immensely grateful to Kim, Jane, James, Val, Tracy & David for their hard work and good humour. We couldn’t have managed without them and it was thanks to them that everything was ready on time.
